Easter Bunny for Cai!

Meet Bunny...
Last night, I spent around 45 minutes making this little bunny for Micaiah's 1st Easter! I used some of the fabric from the 3 garbage bags full that someone donated to me! I went through and got all the things I thought were useful! I got the idea from Jones Design Company! She made bunnies for her kid's Easter baskets this year, but she has 4 kids... SO happy I only had to make one! She got the idea from good old Martha Stewart! I didn't follow the pattern she suggested, but instead just did it on my own and I think it turned out so precious! I like that he has different colored arms and legs and his little button face! I did sew with pink thread his smile, but you can't see that too well on camera. I didn't think making a handmade toy would be so rewarding, but it really does mean more to me than just buying him something!

What are you doing for your children's Easter baskets this year!?

Silk Flower Headband Giveaway!

I'm starting to play around with handmade flowers! I think they are so pretty and you can literally add them to anything for a fun look! I loved Kitty's wreath she made with fabric flowers! It's inspiring and "so easy" in her own words! I decided to try out a headband this morning, because I was so tired of my normal headbands! I had a lot of those Scrunci workout head bands, and thought I would try my hand at making a silk fabric head band! Too cute, right?

I thought I would give one of you a silk flower head band! I won't make your band purple, unless you want it that way! There are THREE ways to enter!

First, subscribe via email or via RSS reader!
Second, leave a comment below with your email address!
Third, become a fan of Designs by Sessa on Facebook, and post on the wall the following phrase: "I want to win the silk flower headband!"

The winner will be picked on Friday, April 22nd, just in time for Earth Day! Hey, how timely... flowers for Earth Day! Yay!

New Sewing Machine!

I am so excited to announce that we are buying me a new sewing machine! We actually just hit the PURCHASE button on Ebay! It is a Brother SE400. It is an EMBROIDERY and SEWING machine!!! So, in a matter of weeks, I can begin to monogram your favorite items! I literally am so might just see everything transform in my house, because I plan on monogramming all sheets and towels, and pillow cases.

This is something that I have wanted for quite some time, and I'm so excited to retire that junky plastic teenage sewing machine that I first bought from Wal-mart! Who knew I would love sewing this much!?

Let me know if you need something monogrammed, because Designs By Sessa is your new monogramming destination!

Also, I plan on making my sweet niece a coming home present AND because I have been wanting a new sewing project to start on. I've decided that this darling summer frock is the one I want to make!

It will be so darling with her monogram on it, don't you think?

In other, DBS news, a friend of my MIL donated 3 garbage bags full of fabric and ribbon, she cleaned out of her mother's home! I can't wait to go through everything and find some goodies and maybe some vintage fabric! I will post the pictures, once I've sat down long enough to make this!

Bib & Burp Cloth - Pink Seer Sucker

Two weeks ago, I had a baby shower to attend to for a friend of mine. I'd been wanting to try out a bib pattern from Homemade By Jill. There's just something about pink seersucker that just is so fun (& classic southern) for a little girl! I love that I had a vintage shell button to add, as well. My friend, Mary Elizabeth, did the monogramming for me! If you need anything monogrammed, let me know, because she is your girl! I realize I'm going to need to work on my curved edges a little bit more, but for the first time throwing this together, I'm proud of myself! What you can't see is the velcro behind the button. The button is just for looks, which I love...who doesn't love being practical (especially with a baby)!

Stay tuned for additional sewing and craft projects I am working on!
