Make A Bow with your Hair!

It is 100 degrees daily here in SC and with long hair and being a mom, my hair goes up into a pony tail so fast, it isn't even funny! After about two months of constantly wearing a pony tail, I decided that I needed a new fun look that was quick and easy! I found Bebexo on youtube and she explains things so well! I fell in love with the bow hair do and thought I would share my look with you!
Close up:
She explains how to do it with both long and short hair! I love it! It's a fun change!
Add a fun accessory for an added touch! Enjoy!

Finished Flip House Curtains

Before I got brutally attacked by the stomach bug, I was able to finish and hang the curtains for the flip house. Remember my pottery barn inspiration?
Well, here is the BIG reveal:
Here are the valances that I sewed:
A big thanks to Sara Parker Photography for capturing these images for me! All of the listings at my husband's real estate company, The Mather Company, get their homes professionally photographed. I got the benefit on these, although since my hubby was taking me to get IV fluids, he couldn't tell her to get some close ups for me. This one is for sale, so if you know of an interested buyer, click here for more photos.

One curtain panel at pottery barn was $79 - $89. The total cost for ALL of my curtains compared to the pottery barn version was $90 (cost I charged to make them not included). That included the rods, both valances, piping and lining, the clearance target linen panels I used, and the taupe colored fabric.

I think I did pretty good on the cost side of things and they look beautiful in my opinion! What do you think?

Mock Pottery Barn Drape: The inspiration!

See these Pottery Barn Drapes? They are $79 - $89 a panel. I'm currently working on my husband's current flip house curtains. And these are my inspiration for the dining room, except I will be doing them a WHOLE lot cheaper.
So far I found a package of two ring top plain white curtains on the clearance rack at Target for $20 and I bought a solid plain taupe colored fabric from the fabric store for around $16/yard. I got two yards, but I am also making 2 matching valances for the kitchen area.

Stay tuned for the results coming soon!

Fabric Neclace Inspired Nursing Cover

I'm so excited to reveal my latest nursing cover! For the last few months, I've been wanting to try to incorporate my fabric necklaces into my nursing covers as the straps. I just haven't had a reason to make a nursing cover until Gwen asked me to make one for her upcoming baby shower! I was thrilled that she let me experiment on the beaded necklace strap! I absolutely am in love with the results! Aren't you!?
Here's a closer look at the straps with the beaded fabric necklace option! I also am claiming this as a Designs By Sessa Original, because I checked Etsy and there was not ONE nursing cover made like this! Yay for being creative!
I really love the necklace feature! Okay, I said that already!

Let me know if you would like one made! I don't know about you, but I have about a bazillion baby showers coming up in the next month! I make my nursing covers from a complete yard of fabric, as well. I'm a nursing mama and a modest one at that. Once upon a time, I had to borrow a friend's nursing cover, because I had forgotten mine. It was about the size of a postage stamp! I couldn't seem to get my wiggly baby under it without revealing my goods, if you know what I mean!

Beaded Strap Nursing Cover with Ribbon - $32
Matching Burp Cloth - $5
Monogramming -Additional charge ($5- one letter, $8 - three letters, $10 - name 7 letters or less)

Garage Sale Find!

Hey friends! I haven't been working on many sewing projects lately (that's about to change, because I have a super busy week ahead), but this past weekend I was helping with the Leong Family Adoption Yard Sale! I'm so excited that Designs By Sessa is doing well enough through your business that we will be able to do what my goal has been all along and that is helping out families that are adopting. Designs By Sessa has been able to donate a $20 gift card for any monogramming you will need to benefit the Leong Family! I have had a really blessed time getting to know Kim by working on her play room pillows and am so excited to be able to help her with adopting their next child! This is what Christianity is all about! I love the verse in the Bible that says that pure and undefiled religion is taking care of the widows and orphans (James 1:27) and while I don't know (if/when) we will be able to adopt, but I do know that I love to support other families through adoption!

I was shopping and found some really great stuff to bring home! I got this really cute rug for Micaiah...you know the kind that looks like a road map and you can drive cars all over it? Little boys love that stuff!
I also found some things that I think should be adequately called...

"What NOT to Sew!!!"

Check this pillow sham OUT!
I was told that someone was SERIOUSLY considering buying these for their home and the people running the sale were SURPRISED when she didn't actually buy them. I mean...I don't know about you, but that is one CRAZY looking sham! I think I would pee my pants if someone asked me to SERIOUSLY sew this for them!

That's about as bad as some opossum fabric that was accidentally shipped to me once!
I couldn't believe opossum fabric existed and really enjoyed the laugh when this came instead of the cute fabric I had picked out to make someone a nursing cover!

Anyways, thanks for letting me make fun! And as always...
Thanks for Subscribing!
