Kids Clothes Weeek Challenge with elsie marley

In 2 days there is a week long clothing sewing challenge that I am planning on joining up with over at elsie marley blog. Over 400 other people are going to commit to sew 1 hour a day for 7 days with the particular goal of making KIDS CLOTHES! You should join, too!

I have a stack of fabric just waiting for this particular week to begin. Half of me is completely scared, because for starters I told myself that when I started sewing, that I didn't necessarily really have the desire to make clothes for my family (it just seemed odd, when I loved shopping) and secondly, well, it's a week long commitment to sew. That might be kind of exhausting. Good thing I pretty much got my house clean this past week (i.e. scrubbing toilets), because I don't think I will be fitting anything like that in as well!

My project list includes sewing for Micaiah and most likely Naomi (my niece...who is like my other child). Here's a look at what is on my list:

  • Grey Fleece Jacket for Cai
  • Pink Fleece Jacket for NayNay
  • Funky plaid pants with sweatshirt lining for Cai
  • Pajamas for Cai
  • Winterizing and Fixing up the t-shirt I botched on this tutorial the first go-around
  • Fleece Vest for Cai
  • Fixing up and embellishing Micaiah's Halloween costume
  • Soft sole shoes for Cai
If I were to actually sew everything above, then I know I would be doing more than an hour a day (more like running a sweat shop), but I think I should just start out with just the challenge and see how far I get. Due to the fact that I am going to be plugging (or chugging) away, I won't have time to post any kinds of tutorials during the week. However, I am planning on taking a picture each day and posting what I get accomplished. If you see something you like and want me to post a tutorial in the following weeks, then please leave me a comment letting me know!

So, you may be wondering why I am doing this in the first place and how you fit in...

Well, as you can see I have quite the list above that has just been waiting and this just seemed like the perfect week to get it done! And for you, well, I would love the encouragement along the way, so feel free to root me on and help me keep up the moral...you know, kind of be my cheerleader with leaving me comments and making me all happy, because I promise you, it really, really, really helps!
