Meet Olivia Monroe

My college roomate had her baby girl.
I had the opportunity to visit them in the hospital, snuggle this 5 lb little girl, and have a little impromptu newborn photo shoot. I wasn't able to have much natural light since I couldn't get down to the hospital until sunset, but I worked with the lighting I had in the room and I'm so happy with how these turned out given the circumstances. I feel like I'm FINALLY understanding photography more and more. You know, f1.8, 50mm lens, lighting facing your subject, angles, changing your ISO, selecting the right white balance. It's a lot to think about, but I do enjoy figuring it out.

I think I'm learning that Photography is how to tell a story. Catching those little moments that are important to who you are photographing.
 Capturing the joy.

 The love...
 But mostly their little star...

Olivia's hat is from Tweetle Bug Etsy boutique.  Isn't it adorable? I'm adding that to my list of "if God ever gives me a girl to sew for..."
