"Be still, and KNOW that I am God."

This morning I was reading in Psalm 46, a very familiar verse.

"Be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress." v. 10 - 11.

It's interesting to see what these verses come after in the psalm.
  • the earth melts at his voice
  • desolations
  • mountains falling into the heart of the sea
  • wars to the ends of the earth
Yet, God says to "Be still, and know that He is God."

That part has always been tricky... the being still part.

God doesn't just tell us to be still and expect us to rest on our own. He shows us HOW we can rest following that command.

He tells us that HE WILL BE EXALTED! That HE is WITH us! That HE is OUR fortress!

Those are 3 promises that give us encouragement, hope, and rest from fear! His word always proves true! Whatever circumstance we are facing today, God is promising us true hope and rest in Him, and our work comes out of that rest!

If Jesus could sleep in the midst of a storm, so can we. Let's not forget who God is, and what he promises us!
